Doggone it's True

Would you believe this story?

I have just finished knitting a small multi coloured blanket for our great granddaughter, Emilia.

This has taken me some time, as knitting is not my forte even though many lifetimes ago I did crochet and knit. True! I have thoroughly enjoyed knitting this little blanket, with love.

Our beautiful Australian Shepherd dog, Tahli, has been a big part of the process. I sit in the chair near our blazing wood fire and knit away, whilst listening to an audio book, and Tahli lies in the big chair next to me. She has shown great interest in the knitting, and of course, having Mum sit near her is an added bonus. Love-in by firelight.

Finally completed! Yey! I gently laid the blanket on our Queen size bed to admire, and take photos for our granddaughter. Jade, Emilia’s mum, to view. As I finished laying the blanket out I received a phone call from a cousin, and left the bedroom for a short time.

Tahli has never hopped onto the bed, unless we are away from home and I note pillows in disarray when we return. She has certainly never been totally relaxed and spread out with her head resting near the pillows whilst we are home.

When I returned to the room, there was Tahli, stretched out in bliss, near the top of the knitted blanket. She definitely had a look of satisfaction and bliss as she lay in peaceful slumber.

All was well in her world. She obviously felt very special and loved, with no intention of moving from her comfortable position, even when we all gathered to tell her how cute she looked.

I removed the blanket, wrapped it up, and put it away. Tahli hopped down off the bed with a look of disappointment (yes, she definitely looked disappointed). hahahaha She did not hop back onto the bed, and has NOT been back on the bed since the blanket was removed.

I felt bad about letting her know the blanket had indeed been knitted for Emilia, not for Tahli. I will always remember that look of disappointment she gave me. So sorry, Tahli.

I will now have to look at knitting another blanket (multi coloured perhaps?) specifically for Tahli.

Will she feel the same way about the next blanket?

I know non-doggy/animal people may find it hard to believe I am not placing human attributes upon Tahli (or our other animals with their own incredibly amazing stories we witness constantly). However, her humans who live with her, knowing her ways, totally undetstand what unfolded before our eyes.

Doggone - it really is a true story.

What do you mean, it isn’t my blanket?
