One Step At A Time

Wow! It seems such a long time since we have been able to share about our Horses Teaching Humans Herd journey.

It is not easy to get ‘back in the saddle’ after such a long break, with Covid-19 continuing to place some restrictions on what we can do, where we can go, who we can have visit etc etc.

I remind myself; one step at a time in the direction we wish to travel. Even baby steps, if we keep on taking them, will allow us to ultimately reach our goal! Yey! Each step, each day, with thankfulness.

We feel truly blessed to live where we live, when we live and how we live at Rubyvale, with our beautiful herd, our other animals and the stunning rural countryside. Covid has had very little impact upon our daily lifestyle and we are constantly thankful, fully aware this is not the case for everyone.

2021 saw us lose two of our beautiful big boys. Firstly, Sampson, the gentle giant who we were privileged to have live out his remaining days with our herd. His presence brought so much love and gentleness to the herd and to the humans. Thank you, Sampson. RIP

Secondly, our beautiful big boy, Trusty. In my last blog I shared some of the wonderful words written about Trusty by his owner, and also just how much joy and pleasure Trusty brought to not only our family, but everyone who had the privilege of spending time with him. Sadly missed. Always remembered, with love and affection. RIP Trusty.

Our resident Herd members, Prince, Tesse Rose, Claudie and Pride, continue to bless our lives with their presence, contribution and daily antics. How fortunate and privileged we are to spend time with these beautiful horses every day.

The new undercover construction at Rubyvale, for HTH services, has been a long, slowly unfolding process. Due to Covid restrictions, and an extremely wet, though welcome season, construction has been delayed constantly. However, at last, we have progress.

We are now (January 2022) at the point where it will be a matter of only 6-8 weeks before the facilities should be completed (God willing and weather permitting). Exciting times for us all.

Any venture undertaken is not possible without the efforts of so many people.

We are thankful to the Country Tradies team for their professional expertise, outstanding workmanship, friendship, and above and beyond generosity, in continuing to work in less than ideal conditions.

Prior consultation, planning, designing, engineering, preparation, production and building has been a production ‘Bigger than Ben Hur,’ as they say! At no stage have we felt any stress or strain. Every small detail has been capably managed and taken care of, leaving us free to stand back and watch the dream take shape. We feel extremely fortunate, and are thankful.

The new under cover structure will enable us to comfortably accommodate visitors of all ages and abilities, no matter what the weather conditions may be sending our way. This is a huge step forward for us all.

Like many people who have been on hold pattern for so long, it will take a little bit of motivating to comfortably and confidently reach our stride again. (The new structure is proving a big motivator for us!)

However, Walk, Trot, Canter and Gallop, could be a good plan for transitioning and moving forward!

HTH Herd and their lucky humans look forward to being able to share some more magical horsing about moments with you, your family, and friends, soon.

We will keep you posted on our Horses Teaching Humans Fb site, and will be in contact when we are ready to welcome visitors once again to Rubyvale, Horses Teaching Humans, situated in picturesque Laggan Valley, Upper Lachlan Shire, Southern Tablelands, NSW.
